3D ARTIST: ELIZABETH NOERDLINGER

Elizabeth Noerdlinger lives and works in Redwood City, California. She focuses mainly on landscapes, painting with oils. She is inspired by the natural world around her and wants to share the moments and views that strike her as amazing and beautiful.

Elizabeth grew up in New York City and spent summers in Massachusetts. There was a stark contrast between the two environments, and she always preferred the peaceful, coastal setting of Cape Cod. An early inspiration was Harwich painter Charles D. Cahoon. Elizabeth has also been influenced by the work of Russell Chatham, Wade Hoefer and Milton Avery. She received a B.A. in English at Amherst College in Massachusetts, and an M.A. in Education at Stanford University. She took drawing and painting classes at Amherst College, Parson’s School of Design in New York, Cañada College in Redwood City, and College of San Mateo. She was a school teacher for nine years, teaching high school English, and elementary school science and art. She presently teaches yoga at the Y in Redwood City.

Elizabeth’s meditative paintings are built up with thin layers of paint. This gradual development of the painting conveys a sense of depth and spirituality, and feels like a journey to her as she progresses. She was a member of The Main Gallery co-operative in Redwood City for eleven years, and has shown her work at Left Bank Gallery in Orleans on Cape Cod, Branner Spangenberg Gallery in Redwood City, and a number of other galleries and institutions. Her website is www.lmws.org.
